Welcome!
WA-AIR is made up of Washingtonians from all over the state, working to ensure that the rapid expansion of data centers and artificial intelligence serves the public interest rather than undermining our communities, natural resources, and democratic decision making.
Across Washington and the Pacific Northwest, massive new data centers are being proposed and built at unprecedented speed to power AI and cloud computing. These facilities require enormous amounts of electricity, water, land, and public subsidies. The benefits are often concentrated among a small number of large technology companies, while local communities and ratepayers are left to manage the environmental, economic, and infrastructure impacts.
WA-AIR brings together community members, environmental advocates, technologists, and organizers to advocate for responsible governance of both artificial intelligence and the infrastructure that powers it.
