Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
Your privacy is critically important to us. At WA-AIR, we have a few fundamental principles:
- We collect as little personal information as possible, and only when we have a reason to do so.
- We store personal information for only as long as we have a reason to keep it.
- We aim for full transparency on how we gather, use, and share your information.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Below is our Privacy Policy, which incorporates and clarifies these principles. Washington Artificial Intelligence Resistance ("WA-AIR", "we", "us") operates waair.net (the "Site"). This policy applies to information we collect when you use the Site or communicate with us.
Information we collect
We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so - for example, to organize with you or to keep the Site running. We collect information from two sources: information you provide, and information collected automatically.
Information you provide
- Sign-ups, petitions, subscriptions, and donations. These are handled through Action Network, a third-party organizing platform. When you submit one of those forms, the information you provide (such as your name, email address, ZIP code, or payment details for donations) is collected and stored by Action Network on our behalf - not in this website's own database. Action Network processes it so we can organize and keep you updated. Your use of Action Network is governed by its Privacy Policy, which we encourage you to read.
- Communications with us. If you email us or contact us directly, we keep a copy of that correspondence so we can respond and stay organized.
Information collected automatically
- Log information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information in server logs - such as your IP address, browser type, referring site, and the date and time of your visit. We use this only for routine security and operation of the Site, not to personally identify you.
- Cookies. The public Site does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or cross-site tracking. Our internal organizer tools (which require an invitation to access) use an essential session cookie to keep signed-in organizers logged in. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies; the public Site will still work.
- Embedded content. Some pages embed third-party content (for example, sign-up widgets or shared documents). Those services may collect information about your interaction with their embeds under their own privacy policies.
How and why we use information
We use the limited information described above to: organize and communicate with supporters (through Action Network); operate and secure the Site; and understand, in aggregate, what our community is doing. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not profile you.
Sharing information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, full stop. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers. Action Network processes sign-up and donation data on our behalf, and our hosting provider processes server logs, each under their own terms.
- Legal demands. We may disclose information in response to a subpoena, court order, or other lawful governmental request, and we'll push back on overreaching demands where we can.
- Protecting rights and safety. We may disclose information where we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of WA-AIR, our community, or the public.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we have a reason to keep it - for example, your subscription stays active until you unsubscribe, and correspondence is kept while it's useful for organizing. Server logs rotate and expire automatically.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information involved in running the Site. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe anytime. Every email we send through Action Network includes an unsubscribe link.
- Access, correct, or delete your information. Because sign-up information is held by Action Network, you can exercise these choices through the links in any email we send, by contacting Action Network, or by contacting us and we'll help.
- Limit cookies. Your browser can refuse or delete cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, post a notice on the Site.
