The Gist
Washington Artificial Intelligence Resistance ("WA-AIR", "we", "us") is an all-volunteer advocacy project. We run waair.net (the "Site") as a free informational and organizing resource about artificial intelligence and data-center expansion in Washington State. These Terms of Service ("Terms") describe our commitments to you, and your rights and responsibilities when using the Site. Please read them carefully, and reach out if you have questions. If you don't agree to these Terms, don't use the Site.
1. The agreement
These Terms govern your access to and use of the Site. By accessing or using any part of the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by all other operating rules and policies we may publish on the Site from time to time (collectively, the "Agreement"). "You" means any individual or entity using the Site. If you use the Site on behalf of an organization, you represent that you're authorized to accept the Agreement on its behalf.
2. Using the Site
The Site is provided to inform the public and to help people take action. The public Site does not offer user accounts: you can read everything and use the public forms without registering for anything with us. Some internal tools (for example, our content manager and volunteer organizing tools) are restricted to invited WA-AIR organizers; if you are one of them, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
3. Minimum age
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and you may not use the Site if you are under 13. If you are under 18, you may use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to the Agreement.
4. Content, links, and things we don't control
We haven't reviewed, and can't review, everything we link to or embed. We're not responsible for third-party websites, services, or content. So, for example:
- A link from the Site does not mean we endorse the linked website.
- We don't represent that third-party content is accurate, useful, or not harmful.
- You're responsible for taking precautions to protect yourself and your devices when following links or downloading materials.
Content on the Site itself is provided for general information and advocacy. It may contain technical inaccuracies or typographical errors, and it is not legal, financial, or professional advice.
5. Third-party services
The Site relies on third-party services for specific functions - most notably Action Network, which operates our sign-up forms, petitions, subscriptions, and donation pages. When you use those features, your dealings are with Action Network (or the relevant provider) as well as us, and your use is governed by that party's own terms and privacy policies. We make no representations or warranties about third-party services and aren't responsible for them.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site. That means you will not, for example: attempt to disrupt the Site or gain unauthorized access to it or its internal tools; overload or attack it; scrape it in a way that harms its operation; use it for any unlawful purpose; or misrepresent who you are when taking action through it.
7. Intellectual property
Except for third-party content, the material on the Site is owned by WA-AIR or used with permission, and is protected by copyright and other laws. You are welcome to share and quote our content, with attribution, for non-commercial advocacy and educational purposes. These Terms were adapted from Automattic's open legal documents under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license, and our adaptations are shared under the same license.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
9. Termination
If you misuse the Site or breach these Terms, we may restrict or block your access to it. We may also suspend or discontinue any part of the Site at any time - it's a volunteer project, and we make no promise of uptime or permanence.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information on it is complete or current.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WA-AIR and its volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill, arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Site.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
